Canadian singer The Weeknd may become a co-owner of an NHL club, media reports say

It was previously reported that American rapper Snoop Dogg wants to bid for the club from Canada along with producer Neko Sparks. Canadian actor Ryan Reynolds and the Remington Group are also bidding to buy Ottawa, preparing a $1 billion offer. However, it was later revealed that Reynolds and his group backed out of the bidding after their request for an exclusive window to finalize the bid was denied.

McConnen, the child of Ethiopian immigrants, was born and raised in Toronto, Canada. He has won numerous music awards, including four Grammy Awards, as well as an Academy Award nomination. His involvement in the bid to buy the Ottawa Senators could bring additional attention to the club and the NHL as a whole, especially among young and diverse fans.
